Serving the community since 1931, the Humane Society of Sonoma County (HSSC) is a donor-supported safe haven for animals. HSSC is dedicated to bringing people and companion animals together for a lifetime of love. The animals in their care receive medical treatment (including spay/neuter surgery), training services, and adoption assistance.

The Humane Society of Sonoma County is a no-kill shelter with two locations in Sonoma County. The primary Center for Animals is located at 5345 Hwy 12 West in Santa Rosa. The Healdsburg shelter is located at 555 Westside Road in Healdsburg.

Thanks to commitment, creative thinking, and a whole lot of community support, the good folks at Sonoma Humane Society are doing some great things for the county's animals and their human families. Sonoma Humane delivers sheltering services to Sebastopol and Healdsburg, and partners with Petaluma Animal Services to provide animal control and related services for Healdsburg's strays and surrendered pets. more »

"As an open admission shelter, we have to take any animal regardless of breed, age, or condition," explains shelter Training Director Valerie Fausone. Within the year, they'd achieved a 98% live release rate, as dogs and cats went back to their original families or found new loving homes. more »
