Sonoma Humane Society 2015

Thanks to commitment, creative thinking, and a whole lot of community support, the good folks at Sonoma Humane Society are doing some great things for the county's animals and their human families. Sonoma Humane delivers sheltering services to Sebastopol and Healdsburg, and partners with Petaluma Animal Services to provide animal control and related services for Healdsburg's strays and surrendered pets.

At the shelter in Santa Rosa, they’re constantly working to create a happy, stress-free environment for their guests, with innovative space configurations that help the animals stay clean, content, and comfortable. Their no-kill philosophy—which results in a 97% live release rate of animals in their care—extends far beyond keeping pets safe for as long as it takes. Sonoma Humane also provides a variety of support services to keep families together and prevent critters from landing in the shelter in the first place. Humane education and youth camps help create a culture of respect and caring, and the Society's Forget Me Not Farm program brings at-risk kids and formerly abused animals together to bond and heal.

Currently enjoying Sonoma Humane's hospitality while awaiting his retirement home is Kingston here. This handsome German Shepherd Dog is an active 10-year-old, who's not a fan of other dogs (or cats), but craves human company and will be an awesome pal to a GSD-savvy person who can spend a lot of time with him. He'd love a large, securely fenced yard to explore and bask in. Learn more about him here.

You can support Kingston and his friends—and if you win the raffle, go home with a classic set of wheels—at Sonoma Humane's Wags, Whiskers and Wine Gala on August 14. Get the details and buy your gala tickets here!
