Nick's Cove is one of the last remaining historic settlements catering to the early California tourist trade on the beautiful Tomales Bay coast land.

It’s served as a depot for tourism, local fishermen and agricultural operations throughout its history.

The owners of Nick's Cove have taken special care to maintain the integrity of its traditional architecture in recognition of the cottages' historical importance.

These cabins reflects the coastal vernacular style common to the community, and they have been carefully preserved, while improving their decor to accommodate modern amenities, without damaging their historical qualities.

For two-legged visitors all cottage beds are appointed with luxurious cotton linens, plush down comforters and cotton duvets.

All but three of their cottages have large soaking tubs and all have one-of-a-kind rainforest showers, heated ceramic tile floors, hair dryer, shaving/make-up mirror, organic bath amenities by EO, plush robes, towels and slippers.

In Maya’s first trip since early March to the coast, she and her uprights stayed at Nick’s Cove in Marshall, Marin County, on beautiful Tomales Bay.

The Nick’s team has been trained in visitor protection while maintaining the guest experience they have always offered humans and pets. Everything was touchless from check-in to ordering to check-out. Staff, guests and visitors all wore face coverings during our recent stay.

While the Nick’s Cove Restaurant is closed inside, the outside dining area along the pier is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, having a cocktail as the sun goes down or watching the kids and dogs frolic in the bay. more »

One of the assets of Point Reyes National Seashore is that all those wild, surf-lapped landscapes are just a blink away from civilized comforts. There’s no need to pack in a trunk-load of groceries with so many good restaurants nearby. Cuddlin' at the Cove

Salt air, savory seafood, historic character and classic coastal views combine to make Nick's Cove & Cottages a romantic jumping-off point for exploring Tomales Bay and Point Reyes National Seashore. The formerly funky, 1930s-era roadhouse and dilapidated fishermen's cottages were transformed a few years ago into a "rustic chic" hotspot with a celebrity chef in the kitchen and luxury appointments in the cottages, some of which are on the water, some across the road.

Winter rates from $202 offer savings of 30 percent and more off summer tariffs and relief from heavy tourist traffic, as well. Dogs are welcome in eight of the 12 cabins—though not, unfortunately, in the acclaimed restaurant. Pet fee is $50 per stay, which is a dog-friendly gesture to be sure. Nick's is just an hour's drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge—so close, as they say, and yet, in setting and in feel, delightfully far away.
