New Park for Dog Play in Encinitas

New Park for Dog Play in Encinitas

DogTrekker.com reader Lora V. wrote in to tell us about a fantastic, two-acre dog park—a feature of the new 44-acre Encinitas Community Park that opened up in January 2015.

Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park is a wide-open space where she can take her three greyhounds to safely run free. She also mentioned that on Saturdays at 4pm, greyhound owners meet at the park with their dogs so the hounds can socialize and the owners can share in their love of this special breed.

The designated dog area has a large turf with areas for large dogs, small dogs and first timers.

The dog park is open from 8 a.m. to dusk.

Encinitas Community Park is located at 425 Santa Fe Drive in Encinitas, visible from the I-5. (Note: The dog park cannot be seen from the freeway.) Other features of the park include baseball fields, playground, walking paths, skate plaza, restrooms and more.
