At 9,770 feet in elevation, this summertime resort is one of the highest in the state. Elevation on some nearby hiking trails exceeds 11,000 feet, so careful acclimation is necessary before taking off into the high country. Management advises taking it easy for a few days, drinking at least two quarts of water a day and filtering any water you drink from streams. That said, there are 10 lakes within a mile of the resort, five of which are less than a half-hour hike away. All lakes are stocked with brook and brown trout. Trumbull, Big Virginia and Little Virginia (where the resort is located) are also stocked with rainbows. Rowboat rentals are available.

The resort's 20 cabins accommodate two to nine guests. All have kitchens and some have fireplaces. Dish soap, paper towels, etc. are your responsibility.

There is a $25 per stay fee for pets, which must remain leashed while on the property and cannot be left unattended to disturb others. Sheets to cover furniture are available on request.

Dog-friendly policies:

  • Size: All sizes
  • Breed restrictions: None
