Tahoe Cross Country, near downtown Tahoe City, has 65 kilometers of groomed trails, a day lodge, warming huts and a cafe. Well-mannered dogs can join their humans on either of three dog-friendly trails totaling nine kilometers.

Dog owners must purchase a dog day ticket or dog season pass.

Please respect the following rules:

  • Dogs are permitted on dog-specific trails ONLY (indicated on maps with a paw icon).
  • Leashes required at the trailhead and parking lot.
  • Only service dogs are allowed inside the lodge.
  • Clean up after your dog. Free poop bags are provided.
  • Place all poop bags in garbage cans.
  • Stay on designated dog trails only.
  • Keep your dog close and under strict voice command.
  • Skijoring is not allowed.
  • Leave aggressive and unruly dogs at home.

If you haven’t tried snowshoeing, what are you waiting for? You don’t have to invest in your own equipment if you’re new to the activity. Snowshoes are available for rent from most ski shops; all you need are some warm snow boots. On designated trails with packed snow and flat terrain, walking in snowshoes is almost as easy as walking in street shoes. more »
