While DogTrekker regularly updates off-leash rules, it is important to check to be sure that this area still allows voice control prior to removing your dog’s leash.

This beautiful and dog-friendly beach is located approximately 6 miles north of Fort Bragg. It offers stunning views and ample room for your dog to stretch his legs and run off-leash till he's too tired to move!

Please be aware that dogs are welcome at Seaside Beach, but not allowed south of the Ten Mile River, which is at the south end of this beach. The endangered snowy plover lives and nests just south of the Ten Mile River. This is a small shorebird that is protected by Federal law. Please respect these rules, and keep your dog north of the Ten Mile River at all times.

Parking in this area is limited and the street outside the beach is busy, so keep your dog leashed until you are safely on the sand. Also, bring your own doggie bags as there are none near the beach.

Help us keep this beach beautiful and dog-friendly:
• Always follow the posted rules
• Respect natural marine life and habitats
• Be aware of tides and currents
• Pack in and pack out, leaving only paw prints

Mendocino County has so many dog-friendly activities that you might want to stay a few extra days. The Skunk Train is a northern California classic that departs from depots in coastal Fort Bragg and inland Willits. If splashing around with your pooch is more your style, book the Water Dog Package at the Little River Inn. Or, take to the waves with a specially designed canine cruiser from Catch A Canoe & Bicycles Too, at the adjacent Stanford Inn. Check out our full list of pup-centered attractionsmore »

Mendocino County is mostly rural, and its extensive patchwork of public lands encompasses everything from national forests and state parks to dog-friendly preserves administered by the Bureau of Land Management. If you and your well behaved, always-comes-when-called pup prefer to wander together without being tied by a leash, head to Stornetta Public Lands, a 1,665-acre coastal haven near Point Arena, where you’ll also want to check out one of the West Coast’s most iconic lighthouses. more »

For water-loving canines, nothing beats fetching a bright yellow tennis ball from the surf and romping full speed ahead on a sandy beach. But while there’s plenty of sand to share with your leashed pup along California’s 840 miles of coastline, you should know before you go where dogs are and aren’t allowed to get their ya-yas out. Here are a few of our favorite off-leash strands: more »
