In 1893, George Washington Scribner, lured into farming by the rich, deep soils of the Sacramento River Delta, settled along what is now called Scribner Bend. The river bend became a vital shipping point, picking up produce, mail and passengers by steam boat.

The Scribner family has been in California for 5 generations, beginning with George Washington Scribner in 1893.  Our ranch runs along the Sacramento Delta where our family has farmed for over 100 years.  They are very excited to share with you the most recent addition to the Scribner family; the winery, Scribner Bend Vineyards.

While dogs aren't allowed in the tasting room, an outdoor tasting bar is set up in warm weather along with plenty of chairs where dog people can lounge and taste with their pets at their side.

Please check winery website for days and hours of operation.

The San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta is a boater’s paradise that in places feels like anther world. But you don’t need a boat to explore this rich agricultural region marked with old-time lift bridges, small towns and miles of levees that in the id-1800s transformed a once trackless wetland into 55 agricultural islands that still produce food for Northern California (pears and wine grapes are the main crops). Numerous winery tasting rooms have cropped up over the past decade on both sides of the river, all of them dog-friendly. more »

The San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta (often referred to as the California Delta) is a maze of navigable waterways winding from Sacramento to the San Francisco Bay. You don’t need to go far out of town to get a taste of the farm towns, wineries and bucolic agricultural scenes alongside the Sacramento River. The dog-friendly places we recommend for a short outing are all within 15 miles of downtown Sac. more »

The Sacramento River Delta is a watery maze worlds removed from the urban clutter of Sacramento and the Bay Area.

On a Sunday drive you'll see old-time bridges and miles of levees that in the mid-1800s transformed a once trackless wetland into 55 agricultural islands—two of them connected by public ferry— that still produce food for Northern California.

Regrettably, there are not many areas in the Delta where you can legally let Astro off leash. But don't let that stop you. more »
