The Sacramento SPCA is an open admission animal shelter, accepting surrendered animals regardless of health, age, breed or behavior. 

The Sacramento SPCA is committed to saving lives and finding new homes for the greatest number of animals by providing medical care, working on behavior and training, developing partnerships within the community and with rescue groups, hosting adoption events, maintaining a strong foster program, providing free services to seniors to keep their pets, operating a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, as well as, on-site and mobile low-cost wellness and vaccine clinics.

The annual Sacramento SPCA Doggy Dash in William Land Park is back in person on April 23 after a two-year pandemic hiatus. It’s one of Northern California’s largest dog events, with 2K and 5K walks plus the festival, attracting up to 5,000 dog-accompanied humans. Registration for the walk is $35, but attendance at the festival, featuring many vendors and canine activities, is free. All funds raised will benefit the compassionate work of the Sacramento SPCA. more »

The Sacramento SPCA will host the 27th Annual Doggy Dash on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Doggy Dash is California’s largest 2k/5k dog walk and festival to benefit shelter animals.

An estimated 5,000 animal lovers gather in the community for this special event each year, with and without their canine companions - to raise funds for animals at the Sacramento SPCA and enjoy pet-friendly vendors, demonstrations, contests, food trucks, beer garden, local entertainment and more! more »

Almost every city and shelter in California sponsors a holiday adoption event, but few are as fortunate as Sacramento in having a benefactor like Kim Pacini-Hauch, a pet-loving real-estate agent who is picking up the cost of pet adoption through Dec. 31 as part of the Front Street Shelter’s “Home for the Pawlidays” event. more »
