The Rustic Cottages received The California Dog Lovers' Companion Golden Bone Award for being dog friendly.

The 19 Tahoe-style cottages, each with a private bath, are on a two-acre property centrally located on Tahoe's North Shore.

Please note that pets are not allowed on furniture. Bring sheets if yours might take an unauthorized jump. Call ahead when bringing a pet to stay with you.

  • Maximum number allowed: 3
  • Cost per dog: $40 Per Night
  • Percentage of rooms that are dog-friendly: Less than 50%
  • Other comments: Dogs can be only left alone in room if in crate.

After Labor Day, tourist crowds vanish from Lake Tahoe and locals take a breather. You’ll beat the crowds (and higher holiday prices) by planning a Tahoe visit before Dec. 15 or after the New Year’s holiday. Rustic Cottage
If crowds get you down, visit Lake Tahoe in September or October. You won’t quite have the place to yourselves, but relative to summer holiday weekends, there’s elbow room to spare. Tahoe is rich in cottage and cabin hotels, many dating to the 1950s and before. While some are certifiably “rustic,” our favorites are comfortably furnished, well managed and wholeheartedly welcoming to four-legged guests. more »
