Plaskett Creek Campground offers a beautiful location just minutes from Sand Dollar Beach, the largest sandy beach in the Big Sur area where on-leash dogs are allowed.

The campground offers single-family sites, as well as three group campsites, for tent and RV camping. The Pacific Ocean borders the campground to the west and the surf can be heard at many campsites. Individual campsites are each equipped with a table and campfire ring with grill. Flush toilets, sinks and drinking water are provided throughout the campground.

A short walk leads to Sand Dollar Beach, a very popular spot for surfing, fishing, swimming, exploring, sunbathing and more. Fishing permits are required for anyone over age 16. Anglers can expect a catch of yellow perch and other coastal surf fish.

The beach is dog-friendly, as long as dogs are leashed and waste is picked up.

Help us keep this beach beautiful and dog-friendly:
• Always follow the posted rules
• Respect natural marine life and habitats
• Be aware of tides and currents
• Pack in and pack out, leaving only paw prints

Dorian's Moody Blues
Dorian's Moody Blues @ San Simeon Cove
Nestled under the watchful eye of William Randolph Hearst’s famous castle is San Simeon Cove, a jewel in San Luis Obispo’s crown of beaches. Emerald-green water, abundant wildlife and ample space to romp makes this dog-friendly beach a must-see for DogTrekkers. It’s worth noting that San Simeon Cove is next to Hearst Memorial State Beach, where leash laws are strictly enforced, including the parking and picnic areas. Leashed dogs are welcome on Hearst Beach, but for an off-leash adventure, simply walk just a few hundred feet to the right of the pier, where signs announce the state beach boundary. Here off-leash dogs and their humans can enjoy the sand and surf.  more »
