Peninsula Humane Society - Coyote Point Shelter

Coco is a happy, healthy girl in search of her forever home.

In January, when she first landed at Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA, it was another story entirely. She had a severe skin infection that had caused a lot of hair loss, and she was shut down and fearful. But the PHS veterinary staff started treating her skin miseries, while volunteers and training staff worked on her confidence.

Soon Coco was feeling a whole lot better, and now this two-year-old pit bull with the David Bowie eyes is showing her true self: happy, energetic, and playful. more »

Our good friends at the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA are always coming up with creative ways to help pets, wildlife, and the people who love them. One innovative program that's been quite successful is TAILS (Transitioning Animals Into Loving Situations), a partnership between Peninsula Humane and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office that pairs minimum-security inmates with shelter dogs, especially those dogs who need some extra attention and TLC. more »

Half Moon Bay Brewing threw a great dane of a party this weekend to celebrate their 3rd consecutive win in the Beast of The Bay contest as the Best Dog-Friendly Restaurant in the Bay Area that was also a fundraiser benefiting the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA. Get your walking shoes laced up and your leash untangled because its time for the Peninsula Humane Society’s annual Mutt Strutt fundraiser. At Coyote Point Park in San Mateo, the fundraiser raises money for the PHS’s Hope Program. DogTrekker reveled in the festivities last year and this year we are looking forward to another pawsitively fun filled day! more »

 If we’re having family over for the big holiday feast, the day will likely end with an uncle or a grandpa snoring on the sofa. The subject of food makes this the perfect time to share the story of Duke, a skinny black Lab who found his way to the Peninsula Humane Society. Duke arrived as a stray weighing just 57 pounds, pretty lean for a young male Lab with his frame. But his weight was just one of the issues troubling our staff. more »
