New Brighton, once known as China Beach, was the site of a Chinese fishing village during the 1870s and 1880s.
The beach is adjacent to Seacliff State Beach and stretches for miles. A bluff-top trail overlooks the beaches and also is dog-friendly.
With 93 acres, more than 100 developed campsites, hookup sites for RVs, a visitor center/museum, campfire center and large parking lot for day use, this beach has remained a favorite destination for generations.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach but must be attended at all times. Dogs also are allowed at campsites.
Help us keep this beach beautiful and dog-friendly:
• Always follow the posted rules
• Respect natural marine life and habitats
• Be aware of tides and currents
• Pack in and pack out, leaving only paw prints
