Meeks Bay

Named for John Meeks, the original owner of the land, Meeks Creek is a western tributary of Lake Tahoe. The small town of Meeks Bay is located at it's mouth in El Dorado County.

200 yards past the Meeks Bay Resort you can park at the old log building on the right and make your way on the dirt path. Please do not block the driveway. If you are planning a longer hike into the wilderness, please fill out a day permit.
The Meeks Bay trail follows the creek paralleling Meeks meadow and eventually meeting the Pacific Crest Trail between Phipps Peak and Middle Velma Lake.

In the winter the lower 1.8 miles of the trail are ideal for snowshoeing.

Parking is limited. Please pick up after your dog.
