The Maddie's Fund mission is to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals.

Maddie's Fund is a family foundation founded in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl.

The Duffields named Maddie's Fund after their Miniature Schnauzer Maddie, who always made them laugh and comforted them during stressful business times when Dave was launching a startup software company. Maddie was with Dave and Cheryl from 1987-1997 and continues to inspire them today.

The good folks at Humane Society Silicon Valley are going all out for Maddie's Pet Adoption Days, with multiple adoption stations. Drop by their Animal Community Center in Milpitas, plus the PETCO Neighborhood Adoption Centers in San Jose and Sunnyvale. Things will be really festive at the Milpitas location, where friendly staff will be on hand to help prospective adopters make the perfect match and ensure a smooth transition for the new family member. Adding to the fun: food trucks for the humans, and shopping opportunities galore for dog goodies at HSSV's Whole Pet store.  more »
Chris and Scotty at ARFWith 65 participating groups in 80 locations (OK, some of them are cats...), there's a lot of territory to cover in Maddie's Adoptathon. Note that if you're looking for a German Shorthaired Pointer, a German Shepherd or a Yorkie, those rescues are participating—all groups' normal adoption requirements apply, so get your paperwork in order before you go.   Photo: Chris was first in line at 4:30 a.m. last year to adopt Scotty at Tony La Russa's ARF—Maddie's Fund more »
Maddie's Matchmaker Adoptathon® is back for the third year June 9-10, planning to spend that weekend emptying out every shelter in San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and getting all those animals into loving homes.   Dave Duffield and friend at Oakland Animal ServicesMaddie's Fund® founded by Dave and Cheryl Duffield in honor of their beloved schnauzer Maddie, is making it really easy to adopt from 65 participating shelters, humane societies and rescues at 80 locations. There's no adoption fee to the adopter (licensing fees still apply where relevant), and Maddie's Fund makes a donation from $500 (for dogs under 7) up to $2,000 (depending on the dog's age or treatable medical issues) to the shelter or rescue. It's a big win for the dogs, their new loving homes, and an even bigger win for the dogs who land in the care of the rescues and shelters the rest of the year. Last year, for example, the City of Oakland's Animal Services department received $99,000 from Maddie's Fund for adopting 166 dogs and cats during the Adoptathon weekendi;more than their entire annual operating budget from the city.  more »
