Residents in the north Pine Avenue area of Long Beach partnered with the Metropolitan Transit Authority and the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency to transform a vacant lot at 9th and Pacific Avenue into the "K-9 Corner Dog Park."

The park opened in September, 2009. It has a unique design that is environmentally friendly by using drought tolerant landscaping and generating 100% of its electricity on site with solar energy.

The park has water fountains for humans and dogs, seating, evening lighting and separate areas for large and small dogs.
