As one of the largest destinations in the Apple Hill region of El Dorado County, High Hill Ranch accommodates individuals and tour groups.

Guests can dine on everything from hamburgers and barbecued chicken to a large variety of apple goodies. Apple pies, cakes, homemade caramel apples, fresh apple donuts and fritters, ice cold apple juice and wine tasting from an award winning apple wine.

The large grassy picnic areas and the cool waters of the trout pond make an old fashioned good time. Enjoy the antique popcorn wagon and the largest collection of antique apple peelers in the county, dating from 1850.

While parts of El Dorado County were impacted by the Caldor Fire in August and September, the Apple Hill Growers region north of Placerville (about 45 minutes from Sacramento on Highway 50) was spared. It’s 50-odd member farms, wineries and other establishments (almost all of them dog-friendly) kicked off the 2021 season in early September with regional events, individual grower events, kids’ activities and pumpkin patches galore. more »

Talk about diverse: El Dorado County stretches from the city of Folsom, at the beginning of the Sierra Nevada foothills, all the way up to Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra.
