Midpeninsula Regional Open Space logoFoothills’ 212 acres are located in the Adobe Creek watershed above Hidden Villa Ranch and adjacent to Palo Alto's Foothills Park.

Here you'll find a grassy ridgetop surrounded by steep chaparral covered slopes, with oak-madrone woodland in the ravines and on the north facing slopes. 

A half-mile trail leads from Page Mill Road to a grassy knoll offering a fine view of the South Bay. Here you will find a grassy ridgetop surrounded by steep chaparral covered slopes, with oak-madrone woodland in the ravines and the north facing slopes.

Please remember to pick up after your dog.

• Hours of operation: Sunrise to sunset year round.
• Parking: Limited (The pullout is on the south side and can be identified by a brown pipe gate and wood rail fence. The trail from the road begins at a step-over).
• Fee: None
• Water: Bring your own
• Distance: .5 miles
• Degree of difficulty: Moderate (short trail with a steep incline)
• Best time of year for this hike: Great year round, summers can get hot.
• Dogs are allowed on designated trails in this preserve. Must be controlled on a leash at all times.
• Moving dog waste off trail is not permitted.

Directions:

• Access is from Page Mill Road, 3.5 miles southwest of 1-280, with parking for two cars at a roadside pullout. The pullout is on the south side and can be identified by a brown pipe gate and wood rail fence. The trail from the road begins at a step-over stile.
