June 2015 marks the 5 year anniversary of Capitola Veterinary Hospital under the ownership of Dr. River May!

Our hospital has grown in many ways and we’d like to take the opportunity to thank our clients and their families for being a part of that growth.  In the last five years, we have added new technology and practice protocols that are consistent with our green business goals, upgraded our facility, expanded our staff, provided new resources that are easily accessible to our clients, and continued to support our community.

We are honored to have such a dedicated and diverse clientele who consistently entrust us with the care of their family pets.

Santa Cruz city officials, who two years ago lifted a ban on dogs downtown, are now dithering about dog policies at area beaches. Meanwhile, visitors who long to get some sand underfoot can stick to the tried and true. more »
Tiki on the beachAs we reported last year, the City of Santa Cruz had a longstanding ban on dogs, even the leashed, licensed and well-behaved, from its downtown area, causing painful surprise to many visitors.

We're pleased to report that in response not only to the local dog community but merchants who complained that they were tired of losing tourist business to more dog-friendly towns like Carmel, the city government lifted the ban on a trial basis last summer and, when all went well, made the new policy permanent. more »
