Former mayor and current Santa Cruz city councilman Ryan Coonerty is one of a long line of Coonertys that's been running this independent bookshop since 1966.

He was also one of many behind the lifting of the ban on dogs from the downtown Santa Cruz area!

• Dogs are allowed in the store as long as they're well behaved.
• Store asks owners not to take them into the children's book section, as some kids are afraid of dogs.
