Marin County Parks Open Space Preserve

After years of collaboration, on August 17 Marin County Parks closed escrow on Sky Ranch near Fairfax and San Anselmo. This 16.2-acre acquisition of residentially zoned land, partially funded by Measure A, became part of this preserve.

This small preserve (nearly 31 acres) sits beside the Worn Springs Fire Road at the edge of lands managed by the Marin Municipal Water District. It consists of several parcels cobbled together that flank, but do not include, the summit of Bald Hill. “Baldy,” as it is know locally, is a much beloved landmark and defining feature of the Ross Valley. The undeveloped summit continues to be privately owned.

Directions:
The following directions are to Phoenix Lake, which is part of the Marin Municipal Water District, and is the best access to Bald Hill. From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd exit west towards Ross, turn left at Lagunitas, and follow to the dirt parking lot.

Help us keep this trail beautiful and dog-friendly:
• Always follow the posted rules as they may have changed
• If in off-leash area, keep your dog under voice command
• Respect and protect wildlife and habitats
• Pack in and pack out, leaving only paw prints
