The Milo Foundation

Two dogs in a field
Beethoven & Luigi

The good folks at the Milo Foundation recently rescued these two very bonded guys, Beethoven and Luigi, from a high-kill rural shelter. The boys were left there by their owners, and the staff was very anxious to get these sweet, scared dogs to safety. Since landing at Milo's Point Richmond location, they've gotten lots of love and opportunities to play and be socialized.

Beethoven (the big one, who's a smallish St. Bernard mix) and Luigi (his tiny terrier BFF, who's definitely the dog in charge) are coming out of their shells in their new surroundings, and Milo would like to find them a forever home together — so much that their adoption fee is a special two-for-one deal. They're both about 3 years old and display excellent housetraining skills; they're a bit shy of men they don't know, but warm up quickly. Find out more about them and Milo's other adoptables here.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Milo has saved over 24,000 dogs and cats. Opening up its new headquarters in Point Richmond earlier this year has helped Milo save even more; currently the rescue is raising funds to fence in the new facility's spacious yard so the resident dogs have safe places to play, socialize, and just hang out.

Milo will also be at Best Friends Animal Society's Strut Your Mutt festival on Treasure Island on August 23. Show your support by bringing your own pooch for the stroll, or sign up to walk a Milo dog!
