Tap into California

Northern California’s Tri-Valley once supplied hops—a primary ingredient in beer—to brewers around the world. Those roots are reflected in an emerging craft-beer scene drawing visitors and their four-legged companions. Located just 45 minutes east of the Golden Gate Bridge, the region is made up of the charming towns of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and Danville.

The Tri-Valley Beer Trail, now celebrating its first anniversary, showcases a growing collection of 16 craft breweries, tap rooms and beer-centric restaurants where visitors can sample flights, learn about food pairings and chat with brewmasters in casual environments. Fourteen of the participating establishments welcome well-behaved dogs on the premises, and DogTrekkers who download a Beer Trail passport need visit only 10 of them to receive a free T-shirt or pint glass for their efforts.

Most Beer Trail establishments are conveniently situated between Danville and Livermore, just off Interstates 680 and 580. Check out their profiles here, give your dog a pat and hit the trail—Beer Trail, that is!
