Enjoy the holidays at one of Mendocino’s favorite dog-friendly inns, Stanford Inn by the Sea. Driving up to this historic farm and eco-resort after dark, with lights twinkling on the roof lines and surrounding trees, one has the feeling that Santa’s helpers just may have done some advance work this far south. “Pets welcome” is not just a saying at the Stanford Inn. It’s a decades-old commitment from owners Joan and Jeff Stanford. Every room is dog friendly, with no breed or size restrictions. Upon arrival, dogs are provided easily digested sweet potato treats, protective bed sheets, stainless-steel water and food bowls and Intelligent Products pick-up bags.
For breakfast (included in the rates) and dinner at Ravens Restaurant, well-behaved dogs may join their people at special tables in the lobby, just outside the main dining room. Dogs love the ability to lounge with their owners while they eat at the Stanford Inn and then move to the roaring fire for an after-dinner meet and greet with other two and four legged critters.
