Kayla Goes Local!

While DogTrekker.com is certainly all about travel around the great dog-state of California, it's also about spending time in your own community enjoying what it has to offer in the way of dog-friendly events. DogTrekker.com features thousands of hometown events each year throughout the state, all easily organized by region, county and city, and easily found on our Events tab.

Kayla spent this last weekend enjoying the great Bay Area weather, attending some of the more unusual events she found on the site.

First up, on Saturday, she attended San Anselmo's premier annual event, the San Anselmo Art & Wine Festival, held every June. Dog water bowls were aplenty and each day featured a pet fashion show with well-dressed dogs, including cute adoptables from Milo and Marin Humane.

She also ate at the dog-friendly patio of Comforts Cafe on San Anselmo Avenue.

Next up Saturday evening, Kayla headed to San Francisco for the Bitch Please! doggie art show, co-curated by a a lovely pit named Lola and her owner artist Jenny Sharaf. Among the works displayed was 'Waterdog' created by artist Mary 'Button' Durell. The mixed media work was made from three dog harnesses, paper and acrylic.

Kayla loved meeting Lola and the other pups attending the show.

Sunday morning, Kayla took a short walk around Lagoon Park (adjacent to the Marin County Fairgrounds) to check out the waterfowl and view of the lagoon.

After her walk, Kayla headed over to the San Rafael Pacifics (professional independent baseball team) annual Dog Day at the Park event.

Marin Humane Society was on hand with cute adoptables, Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin was there handing out Frisbees plus goodies for doggie-parents, and DogTrekker.com co-founders Roxanne and Dave Kendrick took the field with Kayla as judges for the 'Ugly Dog Contest.'

Finally, Kayla headed home, took a swim in the pool and settled in for a long night of dreaming about dogs, art, baseball and ducks.

Sweet Dreams Kayla!
