Southern California's Southern California Railway Museum, midway between Riverside and Temecula on Interstate 215, harkens back to “the way it was” when trolleys and interurban trains served Los Angeles and other regional communities.
You (but maybe not Rover) might recognize some of the rolling stock from movies including “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” Whether you sign up for a guided tour or go it on your own, you’ll both enjoy novel sights, sounds, smells, history and weekend train rides. Save this one for fall, as the desert location roasts in summer.
